John Harrington is a Canadian artist who has been painting for more than
forty years. A self taught artist, John has been honing his techniques
and skills while developing a unique style that has created a large
following. His favorite medium is acrylic on canvas or board; his
style can be described as realism and his subjects are based on
his life experiences. "Nature is the artist. I try to duplicate
it for others to enjoy" says John. Whether it is a couple of
chairs sitting on a lakeside dock or a pair of loons swimming in
front of a wall of rock, John tries to evoke a feeling of being
there in the observer.
John has travelled extensively including southeast Asia and Europe as well as The United States and every province in Canada. He has become known in some circles for his extensive travels and discoveries in the Canadian Arctic. Ten expeditions in search of the lost Franklin expedition of 1845 have resulted in numerous discoveries. (See "Arctic Travels" for details)
John has produced over thirty limited editions, more than half of which are sold out. John and his wife Fran live in Mississauga, Ontario.
